2013 Santa Fe Opera Festival Season

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

"Finding the right mix of repertory is our challenge each year - with a world premiere, a new production of a rare Rossini masterpiece, an Offenbach comedy, classic Mozart and a beloved opera

by Verdi, Santa Fe offers operas for the adventurous and the neophyte. To be sure, beautiful music abounds!" - Charles MacKay, General Director

From the unlikeliest of beginnings-an opera company located hundreds of miles from any major city, featuring American singers in a wide-ranging and challenging repertory, and treating theatrical and musical values as equally important in its productions-The Santa Fe Opera has grown to become recognized as one of the world's leading cultural festivals.

The Santa Fe Opera will present special family performances of Benjamin Britten's Noah's Flood as part of the 2013 season. The opera will be fully staged with costumes, sets and orchestra. The director is Kathleen Clawson and the designer is the renowned santero Charles Carrillo. The conductor is Gabriel Gordon, music director of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony. Two former apprentices, baritone Alan Dunbar and mezzo-soprano Ellie Jarrett Shattles, will appear as Noah and Mrs. Noah. Performances are scheduled for August 10 and 11 in the Opera's O'Shaughnessy Hall with times and ticket prices to be announced at a later date.
