The Call For Entries for HIFF's October 2013 film festival is now OPEN. We're open to all kinds of films, but are particularly interested in films made by locals, Pacific Islanders and American Immigrants.
Attending the Hawaii International Film Festival
Simply put, a film festival is just a night out at the movies. At the same time, it's so much more than a night out at the movies. It's special because of the TYPE of movies you can see. They're international films, cultural films, independently produced films, and art films. Hawaii's location between the US mainland and the continent of Asia makes it the perfect place to host a gallery of movies that revolve around the idea of "East meets West."
To really connect the audience with the movies, we bring in the filmmakers in person to speak about and answer questions regarding their films. On top of just showing the movies, we have programs that cultivate visual literacy and seminars about film production. HIFF is 11 straight days of over 150 different films representing dozens of countries, featuring countless filmmakers and celebrities.
Welcome to the 2013 HIFF Spring Showcase! If you haven't attended HIFF before, this guide below will help you navigate through our festival. We hope you enjoy watching independent and international films at the largest film festival in Hawaii. Getting tickets is easy!

Established in 1981, the Hawai'i International Film Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of cultural exchange and media awareness in the Pacific Rim. HIFF is a premier international film event that has won the praise of governments, filmmakers, scholars, educators, programmers and film industry leaders across the globe.
