2013 Poster Artist-Romero Britto

In honor of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival's® 50th Anniversary, the Festival committee has selected internationally acclaimed Brazilian artist Romero Britto to create an official poster fit for this momentous celebration. This year's poster, titled "PARAISO," was inspired by the Festival's ability to bring art to the masses, a trait Britto describes as "one of the Festival's most amazing qualities."

Recreational Arts

If vibrant water color paintings might only be appreciated by adults, then inflatable water-ready hamster balls are definitely on kids' minds. Among the music and sounds of Peacock Park, is an area dedicated to the recreational arts - zany, creative and most of all fun.

Children of all ages can enjoy bungee trampolines, bounces houses, tower slides, obstacle courses and more in this special area dedicated to healthy living through outdoor play and games.

About CGAF

What began in 1963 as an intimate "clothes line" art show featuring a handful of artists and a few thousand onlookers as part of a promotion for the Coconut Grove Playhouse's production of Irma la Douce has transformed itself into South Florida's most successful arts festival. Today, the event attracts an estimated 120,000 people to the winding streets of Coconut Grove during President's Day weekend.

Produced by the Coconut Grove Arts and Historical Association, Inc., a non-profit community organization under the direction of a board of directors and full-time staff, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival® showcases the works of 360 internationally recognized artists who are selected from nearly 1,300 applicants. Jurors evaluate the artist's work and displays to select participants in such categories as mixed media, painting, photography, digital art, printmaking & drawing, watercolor, claywork, glass, fiber, jewelry & metalwork, sculpture and wood.

Proceeds help fund year-round arts programs benefitting a scholarship fund that will create opportunities for Miami-Dade County's talented students to continue their art education. Since its inception in 1963, the association has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to students who attend fine arts programs in local schools.

The Association also maintains the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery and the Hunter Gallery which present special exhibitions throughout the year from its location at Mayfair in the Grove.
