56th Annual Pittsburgh Folk Festival

The Pittsburgh Folk Festival Inc., is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that began in 1956 with seventeen nationalities whose purpose was to promote "Unity in Diversity" by presenting an annual festival of cultures. Pittsburgh Folk Festival became incorporated in 1992. The corporation is now comprised of 30 ethnic member organization that represent the diversity of ethnic communities in the Pittsburgh area.


  • The stage is great, the music is excellent, and the dancers are the best ethnic dancers with the most colorful costumes!!!
  • Every year over 500 dancers and musician perform during the Annual Pittsburgh Folk Festival on the main stage from 10:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m.
  • Also, there are dance lessons, throughout the festival taught by talented Pittsburgh Folk Festival dancers at NO cost!!!

Multicultural Education Program (MCEP)

Around the World in One Day (AWOD)

On the first day of the festival, (Friday, April 19, 2013), in conjunction with our non-profit sister organization, The World Cultures Education Consortium of Western PA, we are once again proud to offer the "Multicultural Educational Program - Around the World in One Day", to elementary school, middle school, high school students(grades 2-12).

For a nominal fee, this program provides students with a unique opportunity to learn and experience a variety of cultures in a single day trip. The objective of this educational experience is to promote a better understanding of various peoples by learning about their history, culture and customs. This educational program meets curriculum guidelines for multicultural education by offering student participation in folk crafts; performances of traditional ethnic dances, songs and music; and cultural exhibits where students can learn about a people's history, geography and customs.
