Alaska Diabetes Camp
Our great state of Alaska holds over 68,500 people with diabetes. The American Diabetes Association in Alaska touches every corner of the state to help provide support and educational materials to all those in need.
The Anchorage and Fairbanks offices field calls for discrimination and place calls for action from Alaskan communities. Join us in our effort to advocate for rights of people with diabetes, promote healthy lifestyles to prevent diabetes, and send children with type 1 diabetes to camp!
It's PFD Season!

Good News Alaska!
We have a great victory to announce for children with diabetes in Alaska! The Alaska Board of Nursing has changed regulations that require medical personnel (such as a school nurse) to be present to administer glucose test, insulin, and glucagon! Now parents can delegate non medical personnel to follow a health care directive and 504 Plan with specific curriculum to provide diabetes care when a nurse is not available! We still need to educate parents, administrators, and health care professionals on new regulations. This is an incredible victory and ADA is pleased to have fought on behalf of those with diabetes. Together we CAN Stop Diabetes!
Alaska Diabetes Camp
American Diabetes Association's Diabetes Camp K is held every year on the beautiful beach of Kenai Lake.
The camp is host to children with diabetes every year, a full team of medical staff and Camp Fire Camp Counselors. Camp this year was July 28 to August 2, 2013. Campers learn how to manage their disease and will gain experience in a fun, positive learning environment. The activities program at camp is designed for a variety of personalities and ability levels. All campers enjoy the natural beauty of Camp K.
