AMERICAN INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

The 38th annual AMERICAN INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL will be presented November 1-10, 2013. The Festival, founded and produced by American Indians, chronicles our integrity as peoples, artists, and activists. This year, the Festival will once again showcase short films, documentaries, and features that come from the heart of Indian Country, produced by emerging and established Indian/Non-Indian filmmakers. For many of them, this year's Festival will be an important stepping stone to other film festivals, theatrical venues, broadcasts, and web-based markets.

The Festival will open on Friday, November 1. Across the next nine days, the public and visiting filmmakers will be treated to a remarkable lineup of Indian films, with many screenings followed by conversations with the directors.

On Friday, November 8 the Festival will present a public screening of works produced by participants in the TRIBAL TOURING PROGRAM, bringing young filmmakers to San Francisco to introduce their films to Festival audiences, meet each other, and form networks that will last far beyond the Festival.

The Festival will close with American Indian Motion Pictures Awards Show on Sunday, November 10. Together, the Festival and Awards Show form the cornerstone of AIFI's exhibition strategy by providing an opportunity and national venue for emerging and established filmmakers, entertainers, and performing artists to come together, renew their artistic spirit, and share their gifts. Since the first Awards Show in 1978, the signature event has been a community- based circle in which creative storytellers are showcased and commended for their cinematic achievements.

AIFI's three-pronged project, the Film Festival and its constituent parts - the full schedule of film screenings, the opening night and Awards Show, the convening of Tribal Touring Program youth participants and screening of their films encourage interaction among filmmakers and audiences - all work together to raise cultural awareness. The Festival presents a rare opportunity for audiences of all backgrounds to watch and discuss films that offer authentic portraits of Native life.

Your public support and participation is a significant part of that truth. We honor, salute and remember our Leaders and Media-Makers of past generations... for they have given, helped, and suffered so that all of us can realize a Better Life. Remember and celebrate their words, deeds and accomplishments.

We celebrate all Media-Makers represented in this 38th Edition of the American Indian Film Festival®. Thank you for your gifts that you share with our San Francisco and World community.
