Atlantic Coast Academy Calendar of Events

Welcome to our 2012-13 dance year. We are proud to offer new and exciting events, programs and classes to this year's schedule. These calendars are to serve as general guides to upcoming plans for events and classes. These calendars may include events or programs not intended for the participation of all students or classes. Competitions are strictly for performance groups unless otherwise notified. All students are invited to participate in the Club Shows and family dances. Dates and times can change so look for updates!

Non-Intensive

For students of all ages who would like to take ballet as a means of expression, for channeling energies, for poise, muscle strengthening and coordination. Classes are designed to allow students to move into other divisions of the school properly educated, to be challenged to the point once a week allows, to have a more relaxed approach for those students who would like all the advantages of a ballet class without the pressures of numerous rehearsals, performances, and greater technical skills. To practice ACAD etiquette at school and performing venues and to adhere to dress and hair codes to the best of your ability.

Performance Benefits - to perform in the "Nutcracker" and the annual Spring production at the level of involvement appropriate to training once a week. To prepare and present one lecture demonstration for parents annually.

Intensive

A commitment by the student and parent to ballet as a priority activity. Classes are designed to inspire a love for dance with a serious approach to the study of ballet, starting with technical proficiency and artistic expression. Intensive students must practice ACAD etiquette at all times and follow ACAD rules. Any noncompliance will be noted and be a factor in performance casting and class advancement. To participate in two fundraising activities, all workshops and a sincere attempt to contribute positively to the performance endeavors of Coastal Dance Society Inc and ACAD. To fully appreciate the commitment and not require the directors to make difficult and stressful decisions with regard to exceptions of the rules. Your teachers will match your commitment with classes of professional level training as well as leadership and self-confidence skills so as to ensure them the opportunity to utilize and be successful with the craft they have chosen to learn. To devote time and energy to each and every student. To treat each one as an individual with the expectations of both student and teacher appropriate to the potential and capability of the student. Your teachers will be sensitive to the student's age and emotions and physical welfare while maintaining a high level training process. Fun and smiles will be stressed as much as turn out and posture.

Performance Benefits - to perform in the "Nutcracker" and the annual Spring production at the level of involvement appropriate to training the mandatory three days per week with acknowledgment of parent participation in fundraising and performance events. To perform in local venues provided by Atlantic Coast Academy of Dance to further enhance performance skills. Senior parts in the Spring production will be reserved for accomplished Level 4 & Teen ballet students not participating in Company.

Dancer's Project 1 & 2

An accelerated class for those students interested in a young or future career in ballet. It will include all Intensive elements as described above plus enhanced deep tissue muscle training, artistic expression skills and floor barre. The level of commitment will be greater, and short and long term goals will be given with instruction and guidance as how to achieve them.

Performance Benefits - to perform in the "Nutcracker" and the annual Spring production at the level of involvement appropriate to training the mandatory four days a week with acknowledgment of parent participation in fundraising and performing events. To perform in venues provided by Atlantic Coast Academy of Dance to further enhance performance skills. Added consideration for lead parts will occur upon improvement in the program plus excellent rule application and practice of ACAD etiquette.

Atlantic Coast Dance Company

Devoted to those students who wish to attain the highest level of training and performing. It encompasses all the aspects and commitment of Intensive through Dancer's Project plus the following contractual agreements.

  • To be inspired at this point in time to have ballet be a major part of your life.
  • To commit to Saturday and extra rehearsals all year.
  • To commit to reaching or surpassing potential with hard work and devotion.
  • To be attentive to keeping the body in proportion for ballet requirements.
  • To be able to choose ballet class and rehearsal over other free activities.
  • To follow ACAD rules and etiquette and to be professional at all times.
  • To be part of "The Team".
  • To always rise to the occasion technically and artistically.
  • To meet the expectations of the Directors and your audience.

The directors will match your commitment by giving you the best chance possible of being a professional dancer, by offering paid contracts to members upon graduation of high school and helping the dancer use their knowledge and experience to further their career in college.

Performance Benefits - A professional touring company.

Company

Acceptance is by audition only. Younger students may not audition for company without having participated in the Dancer's Project. Company participants will sign contracts of commitment. This is to ensure fairness to all students when rewards and consequences are applied.
Any student after completing their contract whose dreams and goals have changed may proudly return to Intensive with no penalty.
