"From the impressive lightshow to the bombastic beats and soaring sax improvisations, Big Gigantic lived up to both halves of their name, and left the stage reminding the audience that electronic music is still an open template with endless possibilities."-Jed Nussbaum, Relix.com (11/1)
Boulder, CO-based electronic act BIG GIGANTIC shows no signs of slowing down in 2013 as the duo of saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken will be bringing their breakthrough sound of DJ-based music with live instruments to over 25 U.S. cities this winter including a stop in MADISON on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7 at the ORPHEUM THEATRE.
BIG GIGANTIC started off 2012 with the release of their latest album NOCTURNAL via their own label Big Gigantic Records. Available as a free download on their website www.biggigantic.net, the album has already received over 250,000 downloads to date. The duo then took on the U.S. festival circuit performing to rave reviews at such top festivals as Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Ultra Music Festival, Wakarusa, Hangout, Electric Forest, Camp Bisco, Governor's Ball, Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo, where they were chosen as one of the "10 Must-See Acts" by Rolling Stone. As SPIN noted in their July/August issue, BIG GIGANTIC ranked among the Top 20 artists with the most festival appearances during the summer season. On September 29, the group performed their biggest hometown show of their career when they headlined the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado for a sold-out show dubbed "Rowdytown" and became the first band to ever use projection mapping visuals on the venue's Rocks. The Westword newspaper just voted this show the #1 EDM show of 2012 in Colorado. See a video recap of the show here: http://vimeo.com/50638399
LALLI and SALKEN recently wrapped their 45-date fall headlining "Uprising Tour" that featured over 2/3 of sold-out shows and critical acclaim from the press. Justin Olsen from NITEGUIDE MAGAZINE best described their October 5 show at the House of Blues West Hollywood noting, "If there's one word to describe a Big Gigantic show, it's ‘Rowdy.' Multi-tasking between playing drums, saxophone and DJing samples, Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken provide an EDM experience that's unique and trendsetting in current times" (November). BIG GIGANTIC will ring in 2013 with a New Year's Eve show in Chicago followed by performances in early January on both HOLY SHIP!! and Jam Cruise, marking the first band to ever play both cruises.
