Downtown Alive
This weekly music series at Hyatt Plaza on Main Street continues for 24 weeks from March 21 to August 29, 2013, featuring local, regional and national entertainers with sounds including rock, blues, funk, and cover bands.
A total of approximately 45,000 people attend this event annually and it is the single largest fundraiser for the Metropolitan Arts Council.

Downtown comes alive every Thursday evening with an outdoor street party featuring live musical entertainment with varied sounds including rock, blues, funk and cover bands. Main Street serves as the perfect backdrop to this free event series where people can unwind by meeting up with friends, making new acquaintances and networking.
A popular staple in Greenville during the months of March through August, Downtown Alive attracts approximately 45,000 people annually. The event serves as the single largest fundraiser for the Metropolitan Arts Council, a supporter of arts-related programs in Greenville and the Upstate.
Since 1986, Downtown Alive has provided a steady and significant stream of income for MAC. Now in its 26th year, an estimated 100,000 people will gather on North Main Street in front of the Hyatt Regency to enjoy live music and libations every Thursday from March through August. The City of Greenville has been a wonderful partner in organizing this event.
Implemented in 2011, a new feature of the event is The Arts Do Downtown Alive which was designed to give create greater awarness of MAC individual artists and arts organizations. Every Thursday, these artists and groups are allowed to sell their work as well as tickets to performances.
In 2012, Downtown Alive is sponsored by Piedmont Natural Gas Company whose support has been instrumental in ensuring the continued success of this fantastic Thursday evening event.
About Us
The Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC) is the only organization in Greenville, South Carolina working daily to support every discipline of the arts. MAC provides support to area arts organizations and many individual artists through its grants program, through its cultural planning process, by advocating on behalf of all artists and arts groups, and by providing cooperative marketing opportunities promoting arts groups that might not have resources available to them.
