Exhibition Opening: 'Studio Art Quilt Associates 20th Showcase'
The Exhibition Opening is on Friday, August 3 at 10am. This exhibition features selections by 4 to 6 juried artists who demonstrate innovation in the contemporary art quilt form. Through their works, some of which have been created specifically for this exhibition, the artists explore and express aesthetic concerns common to the whole range of visual arts, while maintaining a clear relationship to the folk art from which contemporary quiltmaking descends.
From pale sky blue to deep midnight blue, long-lasting indigo dye has been a staple in American textiles. Made popular when it was first imported from India to Europe in the late 1400s, indigo earned the name "Blue Gold." The exhibition "Indigo Gives America the Blues" shows quilts that exemplify Indigo's rich history.he International Quilt Study Center & Museum is located on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's East Campus at 33rd and Holdrege Streets.

The center houses the largest publicly held quilt collection in the world. The more than 3,500 quilts date from the early 1700s to the present and represent more than 25 countries. IQSCM makes its academic home in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design in the College of Education and Human Sciences.
