About Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
Established in 1938, the garden is internationally renowned for its collections of palms, cycads and other tropical plants, including many rare and endangered species. The Fairchild collections include an extraordinary array of flowering trees, shrubs and vines, bromeliads, orchids and other epiphytes and rare plants collected from locations stretching from the Bahamas to the Orient, as well as an abundance of native plants.
Fairchild combines the beauty of its horticultural display with its role as a living museum, laboratory and center of learning and discovery. Its lush landscapes and superb collections are appreciated by gardeners, tourists, photographers, scientists and nature lovers of all ages. In the world where natural resources are shrinking at an alarming pace and where unique species are vanishing every year, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is an important member of the global environmental community.
Mission
Our mission is to save tropical plant diversity by exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants; fundamental to this task is inspiring a greater knowledge and love for plants and gardening so that all can enjoy the beauty and bounty of the tropical world.
