Flores de Mayo Festival

The Filipino Community Center is expanding this year's Filipino Fiesta and Parade to a week-long celebration to launch its second decade of service. Called Flores de Mayo, the festival brings to Hawaii the joy and celebrations of the month of May, the traditional fiesta time in the Philippines.
In addition to the day-long Fiesta and Parade at Kapiolani Park, Flores de Mayo will also include:

Santacruzan at FilCom Center. One of the most beloved traditions, the Santacruzan features a town's most beautiful young ladies and their escorts in a flower-decked procession that commemorates the finding of the Holy Cross by the Reina Elena (St. Helena, mother of Constantine the Great). The Santacruzan will be accompanied by music, entertainment, and food at the FilCom Center and promises to be a new attraction for the Leeward area.
Other Affiliated Events. Affiliated events co-sponsored with other community groups will also be held at the FilCom Center from May 5 to May 11. Among the events being planned are the Orientation of fiesta and parade participants on May 5; workshops on "Doing Business in the Philippines" to allow Philippine-based participants opportunities for networking and to showcase their products and services; auditions for the prized slots during the Fiesta program, where amateur and professional performing artists are showcased, including TV and movie stars from the Philippines; and rehearsals and workshops by the various performers in anticipation of the main events.
