Gala
The Hub Opera Ensemble cordially invites you to attend our Gala on March 23, 2013 at 7pm at the Academy Theater in Downtown Hagerstown.
The Gala will feature performances from our past productions, a sneak preview of Don Giovanni, and a very special performance by renound dramatic soprano and La Scala veteran, Barbara DeMaio Caprilli.
Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served, along with a cash bar featuring wine, beer, and sodas. All proceeds from the event will help support future seasons of opera in Hagerstown.
At Hub Opera, our favorite saying is that it's always "Just another night at the opera." Of course, making that night happen takes months of preparation, construction, and practice, practice, practice! Among our goals as an organization is making opera accessible to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience this exquisite art form, and a big part of this is offering a reasonable price for our performance tickets. As a growing and 501(c)3 registered non-profit, we depend upon our kind and generous donors to provide monetary support so that we are able to continue to make it "just another night at the opera."
We hope that you agree with us and that you're as excited about opera are we are. We look forward to seeing you at our Gala and at one of our upcoming productions!
About us
Our Mission is to provide young artists opportunities to spread the joy of professional opera to communities that do not have easy access to the arts.
Founded in 2010 by Francesca Aguado and Caitlin Budny, The Hub Opera Ensemble is devoted to bringing quality professional opera to communities where the art form is not yet represented. Additionally, the ensemble provides opportunities for aspiring young artists and business professionals to reach out to the community and share their passion for opera and performing arts education.
In partnership with Hagerstown Community College, The Hub Opera Ensemble performed their inaugural production of Handel's Ariodante in September 2010. Ariodante was met with such resounding acclaim that it was featured on the front page of The Herald-Mail following opening night.
Currently in our third season of productions, our success so far has been beyond our hopes, and we see a bright future for opera based out of Western Maryland!
