Heart 2 HeART 2013
On January 6th, 2009, Andy and Jan Thrower were thrown into the formidable world of childhood cancer as their 16-month-old son, Anderson, was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). During Anderson's taxing treatments of monthly chemo injections, weekly lab work, and daily oral treatments, the Thrower's eyes were opened to the deep needs of families who found themselves living in the same life-altering world of pediatric oncology or hematology-related diseases. Inspired by their first-hand experiences, the Throwers sought a way to minister to these deserving families. Along with the help of several close friends, the Throwers formed aTeam Ministries as a practical way to provide frontline support to those who are fighting childhood cancer.
The Thrower's journey through pediatric cancer is nearing a huge milestone: Anderson is currently in remission and is scheduled to complete his three-year regiment of treatment on March 19, 2012! Although this path has been difficult, the Throwers are thankful for the unique perspective through which they could help develop and operate aTeam ministries. They are also incredibly thankful for the amazing staff at Children's Hospital of Alabama who cares deeply for their patients and works diligently in the fight against childhood diseases.
aTeam Ministries is excited about the 3rd Annual Heart 2 HeART Event night on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Ted's Garage. Make plans to attend this special night with children who are celebrating their journey with pediatric cancer through art. Some of special artists in 2013 are Daniel Moore, Janice Wood, Donny Finley, Jennifer Harwell, Jamie Wilson and Lila Graves.
