Operation: IMPACT is a campaign to reduce poverty in rural Oregon
Poverty is the lack of resources. Poverty is the lack of mentors, finances, emotional support, and physical health.
Poverty is real.
Operation IMPACT has decided to face the ongoing tragedy of poverty in our community with the IMPACT festival, held at Pleasant Hill High School, March 14th through 16th.
The Festival has three goals:
To raise awareness of the socio-economic realities in rural Oregon.
Although goodwill is ever-present, the information and resources needed to utilize it are not always immediately available. By presenting the full face of the issues of poverty, Operation IMPACT hopes to bring the people who can help to the front lines.
To make Resources available and accessible to community members in need.
For all the help that the average community member can provide, lasting change comes from impoverished people pulling themselves out of poverty. The IMPACT festival will shine a light on the opportunities available to people, lighting up the runways that allow anyone to take off.
To create a stronger Community Network.
Generational poverty is not a simple problem and does not have a simple solution. There is no way to end it with a sweeping move; it will take time, communication, cooperation, and dedication to truly make an impact. Keeping discussion on the subject of poverty alive in our community is the surest way to make a difference.
