Jewelry-making Basics: Czech Glass workshop
Jewelry-making Basics: Czech Glass workshop
Description:
Design and construct your own jewelry to suit your own fashion or to make handmade holidays this year!
You'll learn the basics in this hands-on workshop, and walk away with a completed Czech Glass bracelet (similar, but not identical to that pictured). No previous experience needed.
You'll learn: stringing beads and casting off with crimps and finishing off with a clasp or toggle, using head & eye pins, and making wire bead caps.
Your class fee includes a kit that will contain everything needed to make a Czech Glass bracelet like pictured (assorted color themes will be available) including a decorative toggle (different than that pictured), head & eye pins, wire, jump rings, crimp tubes, and beading wire.
Please bring a pair of needle-nosed pliers with wire-cutting capabilities (available in the jewelry section of craft stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Jo-Anns and in the craft section of Wal-Mart and Meijers).
Taught by Etsy Team Columbus leader and jeweler Casey McCarty whose work can be found in several central Ohio boutiques.
About the Columbus Idea Foundry
We're a community workshop space, also called a hackerspace or makerspace. We have a simple mission: teach people who want to learn and provide tool and technology access to people who want to make. We have over 100 members and at least a third represent independent, local small businesses.
We offer tools from conventional woodshop, metal- working, welding, and blacksmithing stations to leading technology such as CNC ShopBot, laser cutter and engraver, and 3D prototyping printers. We also have fine-art stations: jewelry-smithing, screen printing, warm glass shop, and a privately operated dark room.
We can also design and build things directly for consumers and businesses-such as meeting small business retail needs, signage, and commissioned merchandise.
