Maple Weekend

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

We all knew that Maple Weekend was a fun event for the entire family. Now scientific research shows there's something more to the taste of sweet, delicious maple syrup - it might just keep you healthy. Recent studies have uncovered some significant health benefits.

A University of Rhode Island researcher has found 20 compounds in maple syrup that play an important role in our health (ScienceDaily, 30 Mar. 2011). Some of these compounds have been shown to fight cancer, diabetes and bacterial illnesses.

Other established health benefits of pure maple syrup include the calcium and potassium content - a quarter cup of maple syrup has more calcium than the same amount of milk and more potassium than a banana.

The New York State Maple Producers Association invites families from across the Empire State and neighboring areas to learn all about the production of maple syrup and other related products. Our goal during Maple Weekend is to share the taste of real mouth-watering maple syrup with you. Maple producers will demonstrate how to make syrup -- whether it's simply boiling the sap over an open fire or running it through highly scientific equipment -- the results always taste great!

New York State maple syrup has established a reputation as one of the highest quality maple syrups in the world. Maple Weekend allows New York Maple producers to demonstrate the superiority of their product, and invites the public to sugarhouses to try for themselves.

From the first Maple Sunday in Wyoming County in the mid 1990s to today's state-wide Maple Weekend event, the goal remains the same -- to give the public a first-hand opportunity to see how maple products are produced, from tree to table, along with the chance to taste and purchase maple products. This year, Maple Weekend takes place March 16-17 and 23-24 from 10am - 4pm each day. Check our Locations page for a producer near you and to see the dates and times that they're open.

The best part is that admission is free!!

The word is spreading about award-winning New York State maple syrup. On behalf of our 500-member organization, please join us for Maple Weekend!
