Milwaukee IndyFest 2013
Andretti Sports Marketing is thrilled to bring the stars of the IZOD IndyCar Series back to the Milwaukee Mile, the longest continually operating speedway in the world. The Milwaukee IndyFest will rumble to life Father's Day weekend, so plan to have your family join three generations of the Andretti family at the Milwaukee IndyFest, June 14 - 15.
Andretti Sports Marketing announces joint partnership with the Harry A. Miller Club and Discovery World to celebrate the 110th Anniversary of the Milwaukee Mile. Discovery World, along Milwaukee's lakefront, will host the Milwaukee IndyFest show car along with additional INDYCAR educational information. Visitors to Discovery World will have the opportunity to get an inside look into INDYCAR and learn how engineering and science apply to the IZOD IndyCar Series.
Discovery World connects innovation, science, technology and the environment with exploration and learning through interactive exhibits and experiential learning programs for all ages.
"We are thrilled to partner with Andretti Sports Marketing and display the IndyFest show car on our premise," said Richard Cieslak, marketing director for Discovery World. "Considering auto racing's dependence on science, technology and engineering, our involvement in this year's IndyFest is a perfect fit for us."
Discovery World's initiative encompasses INDYCAR's STEM Education program, which gives a behind-thescenes look to the future engineers, mechanics and fans of the IZOD IndyCar Series racing. The program offers an interactive, hands-on experience that is integrated into classroom learning of science, technology, engineering and math principles and how they apply to the IZOD IndyCar Series.
In addition, this year marks the 19th annual Millers at Milwaukee Vintage Indy Car Event. The Harry Miller Club will host a vintage car corral for this year's Milwaukee IndyFest featuring historic Indy Champ cars.
"We are extremely pleased to be working with Andretti Sporting Marketing to share the history behind Vintage Indy Car Racing and the Harry Miller Club, and to help promote Milwaukee IndyFest at the famous Milwaukee Mile," stated Dana Mecum, Miller Club President.
The 19th annual Miller's at Milwaukee event will be held July 12-13 at the famous Milwaukee Mile, weeks after the Milwaukee IndyFest. Vintage race cars designed by Miller, Duesenberg, Mercer, Alfa Romeo, Kurtis, and Bugatti as well as roadsters, laydowns and many of the Vanderbilt Cup era cars will take their place on the Mile for a weekend exhibition. There will also be a featured guest display of vintage boardtrack motorcycle racers from the early 1900's to 1930.
