Olmitz Miner Adventure Race (O.M.A.R.)

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

The hills of Southern Iowa, once home to the Olmitz Coal Mine Camp, make a perfect setting to test your physical and mental endurance. Paddle, bike, run, hike and navigate with your team over the rugged, wooded terrain on either the 6 hr or 12 hr course. No aide stations, no cheering sections... nothing but what's strapped to your back. Top it off with a few surprise challenges and see if you are as tough as an Olmitz Miner.

Unplugged Adventures presents... The Olmitz Miner Adventure Race (O.M.A.R.).

Headquartered at Red Haw State Park near Chariton, Iowa, this race will test your strength, endurance, and perserverance, just like the work of the coal miners at the Olmitz coal mine in the 1920's.

The O.M.A.R. will take place April 13th, 2013 at Red Haw State Park near Chariton, Iowa, and is open to 2 or 4 person teams(male, female, and coed).

Offering two course lengths, OMAR is sure to be a challenge, no matter what your skill level. The 5-6 hour course is perfect for first time racers or anyone looking for a good challenge. The 10-12 hour course will require teams to train hard and will challenge even the most seasoned adventure racer. With southern Iowa hills, backwoods navigation, and the beauty of Steven's State Forest, this race will be one you won't soon forget.

Unplugged Adventures is a new venture looking to offer a variety of outdoor activities in Central Iowa. We provide first class events and enjoyment for all levels of competition, from families to the elite adventure racer.
