The Hagood Mill is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 until 4:00 for tours of the buildings and grounds.
The Pickens County Museum of Art & History is pleased to continue our 2013 "MUSIC IN THE MOUNTAINS" programs. We invite one and all to join us at the historic Hagood Mill on the third Saturday of every month for a day of MILLING, MUSIC & MEMORIES AT THE HISTORIC HAGOOD MILL, including tours, concerts, demonstrations, living history presentations and seasonal thematic activities. Upcoming 2013 events include:
Mar 16: Hagood Mill's Sixth Annual KidsFest - Stage show and workshops with children's entertainers, Buffalo Barfield and P. Doodle Possum. Also featuring the Young Appalachian Musicians (YAMS)
Apr 20: Hagood Mill's Spring String Thing - Variety stage show (performers to be announced)
May 4: Nature Discovery Day at Hagood Mill - A Spring Symposium
May 18: Hagood Mill's Armed Forces Day Celebration - with exhibits and demonstrations by the Military History Club of the Carolinas, Hart's Battery / Hampton's Legion re-enactors, The SC State Guard, music and more.
Jun 15: June Tunes Songwriters Showcase - Regional singer / songwriters performing original material in several styles
Jul 20: Hagood Mill's Summertime Medicine Show - Variety of music and fun (performers to be announced)
Aug 17: Hagood Mill's Rolling Waterwheel Gospel Revue - Concert with Last Road and special appearance by Myrtle Hall Smith (Billy Graham Crusades)
Sept 21: Pickens County's Seventeenth Annual Ole Time Fiddler's Convention with the Second Annual South Carolina State Fiddling Championship - Competition and prizes for old time fiddle, banjo, guitar, stringband and open categories. Winner of fiddle competition crowned South Carolina State Champion
Oct 19: Twelfth Annual Hagood Mill Storytelling Festival - Hosted by John Fowler and featuring some great storytellers with a lot of tall tales, whoppers and fun
Nov 16: Selugadu VII: A Native American Celebration at Hagood Mill - Hosted by Reedy River Intertribal and featuring Native American drumming, dancing, culture and crafts
Dec 21: Ed Harrison Memorial Celtic Christmas at Hagood Mill - Concert of Celtic and Christmas music in memory of Upstate musician and mill favorite, Ed Harrison
The Hagood Mill is located just 3 miles north of Pickens, or 5 1/2 miles south of Scenic Hwy. 11, off Hwy. 178 on Hagood Mill Rd. The site is open to the public Wednesday - Saturday from 10:00 until 4:00.
