Endstation Theatre Company was founded in 2006 by Florida State University School of Theatre MFA graduates, Geoffrey Kershner and Krista Franco. As the two discussed the company's future, Kershner brought Franco to his childhood home in the bucolic Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia. Both agreed that Amherst, VA would be an ideal home for the company, and saw an opportunity to bring quality, live theatre to Central Virginia.

Shortly after founding Endstation, Kershner and Franco sought other artists to join the company. Endstation Theatre Company productions are guided by its core artistic team: Geoffrey Kershner (Artistic Director), Krista Franco (Set Designer), Dan Gallagher (Lighting Designer), Sally Southall (Costume Designer), and Bryce Page (Sound Designer). Every Endstation Theatre Company production has a strong visual and conceptual aesthetic due to the strengths and interests of its company members.

Endstation Theatre Company took up residency at Sweet Briar College in 2006 and went on to produce the company's first show, The Tell-Tale Heart and The Mind of Poe, in a number of theatres throughout Virginia and as part of the Washington, D.C. Fringe Festival in the summer of 2007.

Endstation Theatre Company produced the first Blue Ridge Summer Theatre Festival (BRSTF) on the college's grounds in 2008, and the Festival has expanded with each new season.

Currently, Endstation Theatre Company produces the only outdoor theatre in the greater Lynchburg area. Sweet Briar College grounds are an ideal setting for outdoor summer theatre. Audiences can enjoy a picnic and a glass of wine while watching an incredible story unfold before them. Each year Endstation Theatre Company sets out to explore a different site-specific location, providing variety and excitement for its audiences.
