Upcoming Concerts
February 14 - Heartbeat: A Night of Music Inspired by the Museum's Collection, with Love from the New England Conservatory
A team of New England Conservatory students have banded together to take back Valentine's Day-replacing greeting cards, stale chocolates, and overpriced roses with new music, a new way to experience the museum's collection, and maybe make a few new friends. Take off your rose-colored glasses and soak in images and sounds from classic to cutting edge. The concert will include performances that pair music with objects from the museum that capture love's many shades. Highlights include Goya's EL Amor Y La Muerte with the passionate music of Enrique Granados and Warhol's chilling Jackie with a new work from one of NEC's emerging composers. Come for one piece or the whole concert-you curate the experience.
March 14 - The Music of Appalachia with Lorraine and Bennet Hammond
Lorraine and Bennett Hammond both began singing and playing and making up their own music as children. Lorraine is a tradition-bearer of Appalachian Mountain music and is considered the word's finest player of the fretted dulcimer. Bennett's admitted influences are the three B's: Bach, Bluegrass and Bo Diddley. They have been performing together since 1986.
April 11 - The Jemur Trio
Spend an evening with internationally renowned and internationally based Jemur Trio.
The Jemur Piano Trio was formed in January 2012, handpicked to play the Tchaikovsky Piano Trio for six Boston Conservatory Dance Concerts, with world premiere choreography by the Boston Ballet's Daniel Pelzer. These performances were so well received, and the three musicians so enjoyed their collaboration, that they have decided to perform together and explore the vast repertoire for piano trio. This summer they will be performing in Italy (Trieste), Lithuania (Vilnius), and Albania, and are actively arranging concerts for next season. They are coached by cellist Rhonda Rider and pianist Michael Lewin.
