Featuring Henry Grimes and Avreeayl Ra
Featured extensively with Sonny Rollins and Albert Ayler, bassist Henry Grimes pioneered the jazz avant-garde in the early sixties. An ill-fated journey in 1968 led to Grimes' disappearance and the later assumption that he had died. In 2002, Grimes was discovered in Los Angeles and made a triumphant return to the music. Since then he has performed in over 500 world-wide concerts as a soloist and with today's leading progressive jazz artists. For Sudden Sound he will be joined by percussionist Avreeayl Ra, a long time performing artist of Chicago's AACM.
