A Minneapolis-based artist, teacher, and multi-instrumentalist, Ewart performs on reeds, flutes, percussion, and handcrafted instruments often made of found and obsolete materials. Featuring Henry Grimes and Avreeayl Ra

Featured extensively with Sonny Rollins and Albert Ayler, bassist Henry Grimes pioneered the jazz avant-garde in the early sixties. An ill-fated journey in 1968 led to Grimes' disappearance and the later assumption that he had died. In 2002, Grimes was discovered in Los Angeles and made a triumphant return to the music. Since then he has performed in over 500 world-wide concerts as a soloist and with today's leading progressive jazz artists. For Sudden Sound he will be joined by percussionist Avreeayl Ra, a long time performing artist of Chicago's AACM.
