The Day Publishing Company also publishes Mystic Country magazine, the official annual visitors guide for the region with a circulation of 250,000; Go Westerly, an annual tourism magazine with a circulation of 60,000; Sound & Country, an in-market tourism tabloid published three times a year with a circulation of 30,000; and Grace, a women's magazine, published bimonthly. The company also runs Day Printing, a division specializing in commercial printing, graphics and bindery services.

The Day Publishing Company owns Shore Publishing, LLC, which publishes seven weekly community newspapers from East Haven to Old Saybrook, with a combined circulation of nearly 75,000. The company also owns The Times Community News Group, a group of eight weekly publications serving towns east of the Connecticut River to Pawcatuck, with a combined circulation of nearly 80,000.

Awards

In 2011, The Day was named Daily Newspaper of the Year by the New England Newspaper Association for the second consecutive year and the third time in four years. The Day Publishing Company also won 28 awards in the 2011 Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists contest; 10 awards from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association; 41 awards in the New England Better Newspaper Contest; 16 advertising awards from the New England Newspaper Advertising Executives Association; two national awards from UPickEm; 14 awards in the Suburban Newspapers of America Advertising & Promotion Contest; and two awards in the Suburban Newspapers of America Editorial Contest.

In addition, The Day has been honored by: the American Society of Newspaper Editors as a recipient of its Example of Excellence in Small Newspapers; the Columbia Journalism Review as one of the top 100 newspapers in the country; and USA Today founder, Al Neuharth, as one of the top 10 newspapers in the country with a circulation less than 100,000, and twice won the Horace Greeley Award for "courage and outstanding effectiveness in serving the public."

The Trust

The Day Publishing Company is owned by a split-interest trust, which devotes its attention to operating the newspaper and supporting a charitable foundation, the Bodenwein Public Benevolent Foundation. This arrangement ensures that the newspaper will remain independent and locally-owned and that profits from the newspaper will be distributed to non-profit organizations within The Day's primary circulation area.
