I have a confession to make. When I first learned I was going to the Large Club Conference in Beaumont, Texas, I had some serious reservations. I kept thinking about all the other ways I could use those four + days... I was skeptical, to say the least, when I stepped off that bus last Thursday. Then, the magic began. I was immediately impressed with the friendliness and organizational skills of the Beaumont Rotarians and the staff of the Elegante' as we checked in. I quickly learned that I was going to be a part of a fun, well organized, high energy conference in a first class facility. I LOVED every bit of my Beaumont experience:

  1. Michael Clayton was a classy host/moderator throughout.
  2. The breakout sessions were well organized and beautifully managed by the Beaumont volunteers. Each moderator was a good listener and kept the sessions moving along.
  3. The food was fantastic.....and there was a ton of it! I still close my eyes and see those delicious brownies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, pretzels, etc.
  4. The hotel staff was friendly and on the ball.
  5. Our keynote speakers, Jim Kite and Joe Wiegand were simply outstanding. They were inspiring, entertaining and thought-provoking.
  6. The transportation was well thought out and highly organized.
  7. The social events were fun and run very smoothly. So, all in all, it was a fabulous conference.

But wait, the number one factor that made this a conference to remember? The hospitality of the Beaumont Rotarians was simply over the top! Every single member of your club presented the very best face of Beaumont, Texas. Y'all blew me away with your warmth, your charm, your willingness to go above and beyond. You were the pinnacle of a truly outstanding conference. Y'all made the ultimate difference between a really good conference and one that was first class in every way. I am so glad to have come to your wonderful town and met y'all. You epitomized Texas-styled southern hospitality. My deep appreciation to all of you along with my heartfelt thanks.
