The Rides: Twilight and Midnight
Twilight and Midnight bike rides through the city of Grand Rapids - starting and ending at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
The June 21 event will feature a non-competitive family cycling event (7 miles) at twilight (8 p.m.) followed by a non-competitive cycling ride (approximately 14 miles) at midnight (12 a.m.). Rides start and finish at the Grand Rapids Public Museum with various activities and an after party.
Event Activities
The Twilight Ride will involve families with children 12 and under in an educational, fitness ride in and around downtown Grand Rapids, stopping at various historical landmarks (i.e. fish ladder, Sixth Street Bridge, etc.) for information and scavenger hunt pieces.
The Midnight Ride, although still non-competitive, will cater to individuals and families with children over age 12, leading them through the streets and trails, and downtown bridges, before ending back at the Museum.
Both events will involve pre/post activities beginning at 6 p.m. for the Twilight Ride and 10:30 p.m. for the Midnight Ride featuring music, picnic-style food and beverages, themed photo booths, temporary tattoos and contesting. The Museum will also be open for business so attendees can enjoy the venue to it fullest.
The Museum will remain open until 2:30 a.m. with limited activities designed to welcome back Midnight Ride participants when the event concludes.
The Rides will benefit the Grand Rapids Public Museum, a 501(c)3, which depends on public and private support to continue to..."enrich the life of our community through experiences of the wider world in a uniquely Grand Rapids context." Proceeds from registration fees will benefit the Museum.
